Comparing Maternal and Paternal Complementary Feeding Practices: Findings From an Online Survey

AbstractObjective To explore differences between mothers' and fathers' complementary feeding practices. Methods An online survey of UK parents with a healthy child in age. Timing introducing solid foods adherence to guidelines were assessed. Dietary quality was measured using the Complementary Feeding Utility Index. Results In sample 60 mothers fathers (nondyads), there no timing introduction foods, compliance guidelines, or dietary quality. Most who participated had male child, whereas an equal number female children (P < 0.001). The proportion followed baby-led weaning higher compared = 0.02). Conclusions Implications Study findings reveal gender parental practices apart from use weaning. Future studies bigger samples are warranted paternal role during feeding.
